April 7, 83 [1883] -- My old friend Towne, -- This will introduce to you my daughter Mrs. Davis. -- She is on her way to join her husband in Portland. He is a Naval officer at present stationed there. Any service that you can render her will place me under great obligation to you that will give me pleasure to have an opportunity to repay.
