March 14. 84 [1884] -- Friend Mairs -- Occasionally some of our stockholders want to borrow money on their stock as collateral and ask me if I can help them do it. I had a letter this morning from one who is perfectly good in funds and wanted about $10,000 for one year on 80 shares of stock that is $8,000 par value. He wants to pay 5 -- prc -- .
